Sonically Speaking
Sound, Silence, and the Canvas: A Threshold Painting
Before my path led me deeper into the heart of India for advanced studies in sound therapy, I was already living in resonance—immersed in daily rhythms of painting and sacred sound in a place where land and spirit met in subtle harmony. This piece emerged during that potent, liminal time—on the edge of transformation, in a space between worlds.
Sonic Shake Up
That season of my life was alive with sound healing practice and the quiet intensity of creation. My studio became a sanctuary, filled with resonant instruments that felt less like tools and more like living companions. Each spoke their own unique sacred voice in a variety of tone colors and harmonic expressions: several gongs, numerous singing bowls, bells, tuning forks, chimes made from different materials, shamanic frame drums with feathers and various shakers, rainsticks and shruti box. Together they created an atmosphere where sound and silence were equally honored—a space where energy moved in ways both subtle and profound.
Alongside this, my intuitive painting practice unfolded as a natural extension of the same current. Rooted in the spiritual practice of meditation and surrender, my process was never about planning but about stepping into the unknown. My trainings in multiple quantum healing energy modalities were subtly incorporated into everything I did. What I didn’t realize at the time was how deeply my work with sacred sound frequencies was shaping the canvases—how harmonic overtones, pure receptivity, and deep connection were translating into color, movement, and form. Eventually, the two disciplines no longer felt separate; they merged as one fluid expression, different languages carrying the same sacred resonance.
As my journey with sound therapy progressed, I began to notice something unexpected: the prophetic quality within my artwork. What I once dismissed as coincidence revealed itself as a form of intuitive guidance, encoded in shapes and colors that seemed to carry messages from beyond my conscious mind. Looking back, I see how these early abstract paintings were quietly preparing me—holding symbols and impressions that only made sense years later, after lived experience unlocked their meaning.
This painting is one such transmission—an imprint from late 2017 and early 2018, created on the threshold of major personal, spiritual, educational, and cultural transformation. It holds the frequency of that season: the hum of gongs, the fragrance of incense, the mystery of ritual, the atmospheric imprint of the land where it was born, and the stillness that arises through deep sound meditation and creative immersion.
In retrospect, I believe it also carried a subtle personal warning—one I wasn’t able to interpret at the time. Only later, after pivotal experiences abroad, did its encoded messages begin to reveal themselves. Perhaps the painting had prepared me vibrationally, carrying the wisdom of sacred sound healing in visual form—guidance I could not yet decipher, but which nonetheless spoke directly to my soul.
Over the years, I returned again and again to sit in silence with this canvas. Each meditation brought new layers of recognition, like listening to the same gong meditation and experiencing a fresh effect of the overtones each time. Then, in one striking moment, insight arrived: this piece was never fully mine. It feels less like something I created and more like something I received—a channelled artwork that emerged through me as part of the larger current of energy healing and spiritual awakening.
